Ohio Voters Prove Accuracy of several Zogby International Surveys

The Ohio primary election Tuesday showed that, once again, Zogby International’s surveys remain ahead of the curve as accurate indicators of public opinion. Those results also demonstrated that the extensive research and development of the Zogby Interactive polling technology continues to pay off.

In the two primary elections for governor, the Zogby Interactive/Wall Street Journal Online survey, conducted five weeks before the election, remained within the 3.5 percentage point margin of error in both primary races when compared to the actual election results.

In the Republican primary, the survey correctly identified the double-digit lead of Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell over state Attorney General James Petro. Tuesday, the race tightened as political contests typically do in the final weeks, but Blackwell still won with a 12% margin over Petro,

In the Democratic primary for Ohio governor, Zogby Interactive showed Congressman Ted Strickland with slightly more than a four-to-one advantage over former state Representative Bryan Flannery. Tuesday, Strickland won with a margin that was almost exactly four-to-one. For the sake of comparison, the Zogby Interactive poll results in those races reflect the removal of undecided voters.
